The Fordham University football Rams open their 2012 Patriot League season by traveling to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to face the two-time defending league champ, the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks, in Goodman Stadium on Saturday, September 29th, at 12:30 p.m.

The game will be broadcast live on the internet at wfuv.org with Alex Smith and Mack Rosenberg handling the announcing chores and Kenny Ducey on the sidelines. The game can also been seen online by clicking here.

The Rams enter the Lehigh game with a 3-1 record after defeating Columbia University, 20-13, in Manhattan last Saturday as Carlton Koonce rushed for a career-high 250 yards and scored both Fordham touchdowns and Patrick Murray connected on a pair of field goals, including 51-yarder..

Lehigh, ranked 15th in the latest Sports Network Poll and 11th in the latest NCA AFCS Coaches Poll, enters the contest with a perfect 4-0 record after defeating Liberty University, 28-26, on the road last week.

This will be the 25th meeting between Fordham and Lehigh on the gridiron with the Mountain Hawks leading the all-time series, which started in 1923, 21-2. Lehigh has won the past four meetings, including a 34-12 win on Jack Coffey Field last October where Chris Lum completed 32 of 47 passes for 413 yards and three touchdowns and Ryan Spadola hauled in 13 passes for 216 yards and a score. The last Fordham win came in 2007 when the Rams defeated Lehigh 28-28 on Jack Coffey Field as John Skelton completed 26 of 43 passes for 304 yards and two touchdowns to help Fordham snap a nine-game losing streak to Lehigh.

Fordham Coaches Participate in Coach to Cure MD program

For the fifth consecutive year, college football coaches nationwide, including Fordham head coach Joe Moorhead and his staff, will join together in support of the Coach to Cure MD program, which will be held during games of Saturday, September 29. The rapidly growing annual effort has raised more than one million dollars to battle Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy over the last four years.

On September 29th, American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) members will wear a Coach to Cure MD logo patch on the sidelines and college football fans will be asked to donate to research projects supported by Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, the largest nonprofit organization in the U.S. focused entirely on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Football fans can donate to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research by either going online to www.CoachtoCureMD.org or by texting the word CURE to 90999 (a $5 donation will automatically be added to your next phone bill).

In 2008, Coach To Cure MD burst on the scene with extensive national participation. Over 200 schools and 2,675 coaches participated in this partnership program between the American Football Coaches Association and Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy. Last year, more than 10,000 college coaches at 505 different institutions participated in Coach To Cure MD events. Both figures are well higher than in any of the program's first three years.

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed during childhood and primarily affects boys across all races and cultures. Boys and young men with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy develop progressive muscle weakness that eventually causes loss of mobility, wheelchair dependency and a decline in respiratory and cardiac function. Currently, there is no cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and limited therapeutic options exist.
