The Fordham University men's tennis team opened its fall dual match schedule today with 7-0 wins over La Salle University and St. Francis College on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.
In the first match of the day, the Rams swept Atlantic 10 foes La Salle without dropping a set. The match opened with the Rams taking the doubles point with Emilio Mora and Mischa Koran taking first doubles from De'Sean Fennell and Trevor Donovan, 8-1, Kuba Kowalski and J.J. Tauil winning at second doubles over Joseph LaBate and Chas Berenato, 8-5, and Max Peara and Srikar Alla being victorious at third doubles over Dale Fetterman and Tom MacLeod, 8-1.
The Rams then took all six singles matches in straight sets. Kowalski won at first singles over Berenato, 6-0, 6-2, Alla took care of Fennell at second singles, 6-2, 6-1, Mora upended LaBate at the third position, 6-1, 6-2, Peara defeated Donovan at fourth singles, Jan Krouham defeated Fetterman at the fifth spot, 6-2, 6-1, and Alex DeRienzo was victorious at sixth singles over Robert Kasinow, 6-2, 6-0.
In the second match, the Rams were just as efficient, winning all three doubles matches and then taking all six matches in straight sets.
In doubles, Mora and Koran won at the first slot over Tita Mba and Martin Grunin, 8-2, Kowalksi and Alla won at the second position over Ricardo Garcia and F. Terns Campius, 8-1, and Peder Gram and Michael Puntillo took care of the third position, 8-2, over Alexander Tokarz and Evan Vrsaljko.
In singles splay, Alla took the first position from Mba, 6-1, 6-4, Mora was victorious at second singles, 6-2, 6-4, Peara took the third slot from Garcia, 6-0, 7-6, Krouham knocked off Tokarz at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-2, Puntillo won at the fifth spot over Grunin, 6-0, 6-3, and Gram won at the sixth position over James Chung, 6-0, 6-0.
The Rams will next be in action on October 5-7 as they compete at the Columbia Invitational in Manhattan.
