Bronx, N.Y. -
After four straight road games, the Fordham men's soccer team returns home on Friday night as they host the Manhattan College Jaspers on Jack Coffey Field at 7:30 p.m. in the annual Battle of the Bronx. Please note that this is the second game of a soccer doubleheader at Fordham (the Fordham women host Duquesne at 5:00 p.m.) and therefore the starting time may be adjusted.
The Rams, currently 3-3-1 on the season after a scoreless tie at Yale last Friday, are 2-0-1 in their past three matches, including a 1-0 win over then #24 Brown University on September 9th.
Offensively, Fordham is led by Kalle Sotka who has two goals and one assist on the year for five points while Michael Valencia has a goal and an assist for three points. Tommy Granot and Ryan Walsh have also contributed to the offense with two points each.
The team's biggest strength for the second straight year is the defense. Goalie Sean Brailey has a 3-3-1 mark with three shutouts to his credit, while the back line of Ryan Curran, Michael Stalker, Casper Gimand and Ryan Cupolo have allowed just five goals in seven games.
The Jaspers enter the game with a 0-6-1 record and are coming off a 2-1 loss at Bryant University last Sunday. Manhattan has allowed 22 goals in its seven games while scoring five.
Following the matchup with Manhattan, the Rams return to the road to open Atlantic 10 play, traveling to Philadelphia to face the La Salle University Explorers next Friday, October 5th, at 7:00 p.m.
