Fordham's Mike Turi Named Atlantic 10 Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University freshman cross country runner Mike Turi (Fishkill, N.Y./John Jay) was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week it was announced on Tuesday for the week ending September 23rd. It is the first weekly award for Turi and the first A-10 weekly honor for a Fordham men's cross country runner this season.

At the William Invitational on Saturday, Turi finished fourth overall, covering the 8K course in a time of 26:21, just eight seconds behind the winner, Ben Wallis of Tufts.

Turi's fifth place individual showing helped the Rams to a fourth place team finish of the 17 teams competing.

Turi opened his collegiate career on September 8th at the Fordham Fiasco where he was the second Ram across the finish line, placing tenth of 119 runners in a time of 26:37.62.

The Fordham cross country squad will next be in action on Friday, October 5th, when they will host the 2012 Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park beginning at 2:00 p.m.
