After a week off, the Fordham men's soccer team returns to action on Friday night as they venture up to New Haven, Conn., to face the Yale University Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m.
The Rams, currently 3-3 on the season after a 2-1loss at Stony Brook last Friday night, have won two of their past three, including a 1-0 win over then #24 Brown University on September 9th.
Offensively, Fordham is led by Kalle Sotka who has two goals and one assist on the year for five points while Michael Valencia has a goal and an assist for three points. Tommy Granot and Ryan Walsh have also contributed to the offense with two points each.
The team's biggest strength for the second straight year is the defense. Goalie Sean Brailey has a 3-3 mark with a pair of shutouts to his credit, while the back line of Ryan Curran, Michael Stalker, Casper Gimand and Ryan Cupolo have allowed just five goals in six games.
The Bulldogs enter the game with a 2-3-1 record and is coming off a 2-0 win over Sacred Heart last Sunday. They are also doing it with defense, allowing just five goals in their six games.
This will be just the second ever meeting between Yale and Fordham. The Bulldogs edged the Rams 2-1 in overtime on Sept. 11, 1990 in the first meeting.
Following the matchup with Yale, the last of four straight road games, the Rams return to Jack Coffey Field to host the Manhattan College Jaspers in the annual "Battle of the Bronx" game on September 28th at 7:30 p.m. The game will follow a Fordham-Duquesne women's match that will begin at 5:0 p.m.
