Fordham Students Support Your Football Rams at Columbia on Saturday

Sept. 18, 2012

Bronx, N.Y. - After two victories son Jack Coffey Field in front of a boisterous home crowd, the Fordham University Rams will take their act on the road and they hope that their fans will follow. The Rams venture into Manhattan on Saturday afternoon to face the Columbia University Lions at 12:30 p.m. and Fordham Athletics and the 12th Man Club are making it easier for Fordham students to attend with free tickets and bus transportation to the game.

The first 100 students who sign up for the game will receive a free game ticket and charter bus transportation to and from the game. Tables will be set up in the McGinley Center lobby from Tuesday through Thursday, 12:00 to 2:00 PM and 5:00 to 7:00 PM for Fordham students with a valid Fordham ID to sign up.

The game between Fordham and Columbia is the annual battle for the Liberty Cup. The idea behind the Liberty Cup is to honor the alumni of both schools who were lost in the attacks of September 11, 2001. The Cup also honors all of those who lost their lives on September 11th, including members of the various city and state agencies (FDNY, NYPD, EMS, Port Authority, etc.). Each school has created a scholarship fund with the host school donating the proceeds of the game to their respective fund.

The Rams hold a 6-4 edge in the all-time Liberty Cup series and have won the past two meetings.

For more information on student tickets to the game please email John Fernandez in the Fordham Promotions Office at jvfernandez87@gmail.com.
