The Fordham golf team wrapped up play at the 2012 Adams Cup in Rhode Island on Tuesday, as the tournament switched venues from Newport Country Club in Newport to Carnegie Abbey Golf Club in Portsmouth.
The switch in venues didn't help the Rams' efforts, as Fordham finished 12th out of 12 teams, after being tenth on day one.
The UCF Knights won the team competition with a three-round score of 866 (+22), which was one stroke better than Yale's 867 (+23) and 25 strokes ahead of third place Johnson & Wales (891 = +47). Fordham shot a three-round total of 937 (304-320-313) for the tournament.
Yale's Sam Bernstein and Joe Willis earned the top two spots individually, as Bernstein shot a three-round total of 211 (69-71-71), while Willis posted a score of 214 (70-71-73).
For Fordham, Brody Nieporte was the top finisher, tying for 29th overall with a score of 228 (72-77-79), while Jason Del Rosso tied for 45th carding a three-round total of 233 (76-82-75). Jeff Hogan also cracked the top 50, posting a score of 234 (76-80-78), which tied for 49th. Pat Herlihy (T54th - 78-80-78-236), Nick Polvino (62nd - 75-81-86-242) and Brandon Nolan (T63rd - 80-86-81-247) rounded out the Fordham competitors.
The Fordham golf team will next be in action on September 22-23, when the Rams compete in the Cornell Invitational, hosted at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Ithaca, N.Y.
