Swimming & Diving Welcomes In 2012-13 Recruiting Class

Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham swimming & diving team welcomed in the rest of this year's recruiting class, as practices got underway at the Messmore Aquatic Center this past week.

The Rams welcomed in Chris Cannon (East Islip, N.Y./St. Anthony's), Christopher Daniell (Bogota, Colombia/Colegia Nueva, Granada), Joseph Parisi (Hauppauge, N.Y./St. Anthony's), Kurtis Rossie (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Loyola), Thomas Shetler (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown), Eamon Trebilcock (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland), Kelly Carroll (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley (Maryland)), Megan Foster (Eagan, Minn./Convent of the Visitation School), Katie Giuliani (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop Carroll), Claire Parker (Harrison, N.Y./Ursuline), Lexi Utech (Wanwatosa, Wisc./Wanwatosa West) and Megan Zarriello (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City (Maryland)).

This group joins the Rams' early signees Steve Sholdra (Renton, Wash./H.B. Education (Wash.)), Megan Gehrich (Canyon, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic), Theresa Goehring (Essex, Conn./Mercy), Megan Gray (Stamford, Conn./Westhill), Chandler Lulley (Smithtown, N.Y./St. Anthony's), Shannon Lulley (Smithtown, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and Anna Marshall (Skillman, N.J./Montgomery).

Here is the background on each of the newcomers:

Chris Cannon (East Islip, N.Y./St. Anthony's) - Three-year varsity swimmer at St. Anthony's High School... Four-time All-State selection... Set the school record in the 100 butterfly at 50.86 seconds... Earned All-American status as a member of the 200 medley relay (1:34.92)... Swims club for Team Suffolk... Speedo Sectional Qualifier... NCSA Junior National Qualifier... Member of the National Honor Society.

Christopher Daniell (Bogota, Colombia/Colegia Nueva, Granada) - Swam three seasons at Colegio Nueva Granada in Bogota, Colombia... Also competed for Country Club de Bogota... Ranked 16th at the national level in the 50-meter freestyle event at the Tournament Championships.

Joseph Parisi (Hauppauge, N.Y./St. Anthony's) - Varsity swimmer at St. Anthony's High School... Served as team captain... Two-time All-State selection... Four-year All-League selection... Swam club for Team Suffolk... Helped his club to ten consecutive county championships (2003-12)... Member of the National Honor Society... Member of the St. Anthony's Leadership team... Recipient of the Dons Scotus Award four times.

Kurtis Rossie (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Loyola) - Member of the varsity swimming at Loyola High School in Los Angeles, California... Served as team captain... Multiple-time finalist in the Mission League... CIF Southern section qualifier twice... Recipient of the Bunky Lewis Award as a senior... Member of the 2011 CIF Championship team... Club swimmer for Team Santa Monica... Sectional qualifier in multiple freestyle events... Competed in the Open Water Nationals in 2011.

Thomas Shetler (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) - Three-year varsity swimmer at Moorestown High School... First Team All-County and All-South Jersey selection... Two-time BCSL All-Star pick... Member of the All-State relay team as a freshman... Swam club for the South Jersey Aquatic Club... Three-year National qualifier in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle, as well as the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke... Made the LC Sectional cut in the 50 freestyle in 2010... Team record holder in the 50 freestyle... Placed 21st in the 50 freestyle at the 2010 Y Nationals, while anchoring the 200 freestyle relay to an eighth place finish... Member of the Dean's List.

Kelly Carroll


Eamon Trebilcock (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) - Four-year varsity swimmer at Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania... Served as team captain... Set six school records, which included marks in the 50 and 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke, and 200 medley relay... Four-time team MVP... Named to the All-State team four times... Swam club for the Fox Chapel Killer Whales... Speedo Sectionals Finalist... AMS Scholastic All-American twice... Member of the high honor roll... Recipient of the Pine-Richland Business Department Award.

Kelly Carroll (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley (Maryland)) - Transfer from the University of Maryland after one season... Finished eighth in the 200 IM (2:06.59) at the Terrapin Cup, while also finishing 15th in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.08), and 22nd in the 50 freestyle (24.55)... Was a four-year varsity swimmer at Great Valley High School... Four-time All-State and All-League performer in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 individual medley, as well as All-American honors... 2009 State Champion in the 100 breaststroke... Set seven school records... Swam club for the Malvern Swimming Association... U.S. Open and Junior National qualifier in the 100 breaststroke three times (2008-10).

Megan Foster


Megan Foster (Eagan, Minn./Convent of the Visitation School) - Varsity swimmer at Convent of the Visitation School in Mendota, Minnesota... Four-time All-State performer... Set state record in the 400 freestyle relay in 2008, and Section record in the 200 individual medley (2008 & 2009), 100 butterfly (2008 & 2009), and 400 freestyle relay (2008)... Two-time MVP (2009 & 2011)... Five-time All-Conference pick (2007-11)... Club swimmer for Blackline Aquatics... Member of the honor roll (2010-12).

Katie Giuliani (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) - Four-year varsity swimmer at Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor, Pennsylvania... Two-year captain... First Team All-Catholic... Named All-Mainline her final two seasons... Helped set school record in the 400 freestyle relay... Swam club for the Radnor Aquatic Club and the Marple Newtown Swim Team... Received the Most Improved Swimmer award for Radnor in 2011-12... Won the Coaches Award three times for Marple... Member of the National Honor Society and the National Art Society.

Claire Parker (Harrison, N.Y./Ursuline) - Competed in soccer and diving at the Ursuline School in New Rochelle, New York... Place 13th at the 2007 Westchester County Diving Championship... Earned fifth place at the 2008 Divisional Diving Championship... Competed club for High Dive Champions... National AP Scholar as a senior... U.S. Army Reserve Scholar-Athlete.

Megan Zarriello


Lexi Utech (Wanwatosa, Wisc./Wanwatosa West) - Four-year varsity swimmer at Wanwatosa West High School in Wisconsin... Served as team captain... Three-time team MVP... Set three school records... Placed fourth at the State Championship in the 100 backstroke event for DII... Seven-time state qualifier... Named to the All-Conference and All-Sectional teams... Named Scholar-Athlete of the Year at Wanwatosa... Swam club for the Southwest Aquatic Team... Speedo Sectional Qualifier... Was Top 16 at the Wisconsin State Championship... Member of the National Honor Society and the French National Honor Society... National Merit Scholar... AP Student of Distinction.

Megan Zarriello (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City (Maryland)) - Transfer from the University of Maryland, where she swam one season... Top five performer for the Terrapins in the 500 free (4:57.09), 1000 free (10:21.65), 1650 free (17:05.69) and 400 IM (4:32.04)... Captured 24th in the 500 free (4:59.78) at her first ACC Championships... Finished 17th in the 1650 free (16:59.71) and 24th in the 500 free (4:59.78)... Took 10th in the 500 free (4:58.96), 14th in the 400 IM (4:32.04) and 10th in the 1650 free (17:05.93) at the Terrapin Cup... Was a varsity swimmer at Garden City High School... Two-year captain... Team MVP... Four-time All-American Consideration candidate... All-State selection as a senior... Four-year All-Long Island pick... Five Time All-County and All-Division selection... Nassau County record holder in the 400 freestyle relay, while setting school records in the 200 and 400 freestyle relay... 2011 Section 8 State team captain... Helped team to 12 consecutive Nassau County titles and a six-year undefeated record... Swam club for the Long Island Aquatic Club.... USA Swimming Scholastic All-American in 2010... USA Swimming Junior National Qualifier and NCSA Junior National Qualifier from 2008 through 2011... Recipient of the Patrick Ryan Award, given to an athlete who demonstrates a commitment to community service by helping others.
