Day One Results

The Fordham golf team made its way up to Rhode Island on Monday to begin play at the 2012 Adams Cup of Newport, hosted at the Newport Country Club. The Rams played 36 holes on day one, and are sitting in tenth place out of 12 teams.
The UCF Knights are currently in first place with a two-round score of 575, which is one stroke better than Yale (576) and 18 strokes ahead of third place Villanova. Fordham shot a two-round total of 624 (304-320) on day one.
UCF's Ricardo Gouveia and Yale's Sam Bernstein led the individual competition after two round scores of 140, which is even par. Yale's Joe Willis is one stroke back at one-over par (141) with Villanova's Michael Kania is two strokes back (142).
Fordham was led on day one by Brody Nieporte, who shot a nine-over-par score of 149 (72-77), which is tied for 20th overall, while Jeff Hogan (76-80) and Nick Polvino (75-81) are tied for 43rd with a two-round score of 156. Jason Del Rosso (T55th - 76-82-158), Pat Herlihy (T55th - 78-80-158), Connor Monaghan (64th - 84-81-165), and Brandon Nolan (T65th - 80-86-166) rounded out the Fordham competitors on day one.
The Adams Cup will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
