The Fordham University football Rams continue their 2012 season by hosting the Cornell University Big Red on Jack Coffey Field on Saturday, September 15th, at 1:00 p.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend.

The game will be broadcast live on the internet at wfuv.org with Alex Smith and D.J. Sixsmith handling the announcing chores and Bobby Guber on the sidelines. The game can also been seen online by clicking here.

The game will also serve as a fundraiser for the Fordham football team's Uplifting Athletes chapter. The women's soccer team will lend the football squad a hand and be at the gate to accept donations and sell Uplifting Athlete wristbands at the game.

Last spring, the Rams decided to join with Uplifting Athletes to raise money and awareness for rare diseases. The genesis of this project came from seniors Daniel and James Avedesian, along with Andrew Milmore, who decided to form a Fordham chapter of the organization. Once formed, it was easy for the Rams to decide on a cause as they opted to benefit one of their own, Ty Campbell, a young boy suffering from an extra renal rhabdoid tumor who was "adopted" by the team in 2011.

The Rams enter the Cornell game after opening the 2012 season with a 55-0 win over Lock Haven University on Jack Coffey Field on August 30th, the school's 750th all-time win, and then falling to Villanova, 28-13, on the road last weekend. Fordham became the 15th NCAA Division I school to reach the milestone, just the fourth NCAA FCS and the first non-Ivy League institution (Yale, Harvard, Penn and Princeton are the others).

Cornell enters its 2012 season opener after going 5-5 overall last year, 3-4 in the Ivy League.

This will be the eighth meeting between Fordham and Cornell on the gridiron. The Big Red lead the all-time series, which started in 1909, 4-3, but Fordham won the most recent meeting, 39-27, in 2009 in Ithaca as John Skelton completed 20 of 27 passes for 420 yards and five touchdowns, breaking the school record of 413 passing yards in a game set by current Fordham head coach Joe Moorhead in 1995. Skelton also came up one shy of the school record for scoring passes of six, set by Kevin Eakin in 2003.
