Volleyball Finishes Up Homestand With Match Against Lafayette

Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham volleyball team concludes a six-match homestand tonight, when the Rams face-off against the Lafayette Leopards. Fordham is 3-2 thus far on the homestand. Lafayette is 6-1 this season with its last match being a 3-2 victory over La Salle. This is the first meeting between the two schools in some time, as the last match-up came in 1994, Fordham's final year in the Patriot League.

LAST TIME OUT: The Fordham volleyball team hosted the 12th Annual Rose Hill Classic over the weekend, finishing third with a 2-2 record.

In the team's final two matches on Saturday, he Fordham volleyball team registered its second win of the Rose Hill Classic on Saturday, as the Rams swept a three-set match from the Bucknell Bison. Final set scores were 25-15, 25-20, and 25-17.

The Rams (4-8) were on fire the entire match, hitting .347 as a team, which included four players hitting .385 or better. Randi Ewing hit .545 with eight kills, while Brennan Delsing hit .471 with eight kills and six digs. Lisa Hipp registered a match-high 12 kills to go with nine digs with Carina Thompson hitting .385 with five kills and three blocks.

The last match of the tournament featured NJIT against Fordham, where the Highlanders posted a four-set win over the Rams to win the 2012 Rose Hill Classic. Final set scores were 25-21, 20-25, 25-14, and 25-14.

Tournament MVP Renata Pandolfo registered a match-high 27 digs for NJIT, while Camilla Tinari had 13 kills and six digs.

Fordham struggled on offense hitting .007 as a team. Brennan Delsing was the lone Ram to reach double figure kills with 12, while adding five blocks. Randi Ewing also chipped in five kills and eight blocks for the Rams.

FORDHAM'S Maria Rodenberg NAMED TO THE ROSE HILL CLASSIC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM (9/3): Fordham junior Maria Rodenberg became the third Ram to earn All-Tournament honors this season, as she was named to the 2012 Rose Hill Classic All-Tournament team. Rodenberg averaged 2.95 digs per set in the tournament, hitting the double-digit mark in three of the four matches. Her biggest impact came in the tournament opener against Cornell, where she tied a tournament and school record with eight service aces.

WHO'S NEXT: The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action at home on September 14th and 15th, when the Rams TRAVEL TO Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, to compete in the Bucknell Invitational.
