Bronx, N.Y. -
The Fordham men's soccer team enters Friday's home contest with the University of Hartford at 7:00 PM coming off a 1-0 win over Adelphi in the home opener last Sunday, which evened its record at 1-1 on the season.
In the win over the panthers, Ryan Walsh scored the only goal off a free kick from Nathaniel Bekoe. The starting back line of Jack Bouchard, Ryan Curran, Casper Gimand and Michael Stalker combined with goalie, Sean Brailey, to record their first clean sheet of the season.
Fordham has seen eight players record their first action on the pitch this season, as Kyle Bitterman, Ryan Cupolo , Tommy Granot, Ollie Kelly , Mike McNamara and Ollie Kalle Sotka joined Brailey and Walsh on the field in 2012.
Fordham and Hartford met in West Hartford, Connecticut last season and the Rams won the meeting, 1-0. In that game, which was delayed due to Hurricane Irene, John McHugh hooked up with Phil Ferrantello to connect on the game's lone marker.
Following the matchup with Hartford, the Rams take to the road for four games beginning with an appearance in the Brown University Tournament next weekend. The Rams open that tournament by facing Siena on Friday, September 7 at 5:00 PM and conclude play with a game against the hosts on Sunday, September 9, at 2:30.
After the Brown tournament, it's a pair of road contests as the Rams play at Stony Brook on September 14th and Yale on September 21st before returning home to face Manhattan in annual `Battle of the Bronx' game on September 28th.
