Hermann Trophy Watch List

Bronx, N.Y. - The regular season hasn't yet started but Nathaniel Bekoe is already receiving accolades as he was named to the Missouri Athletic Club's (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List for the upcoming 2012 season. Bekoe, a junior midfielder from Accra, Ghana, is just one of four Atlantic 10 players to be named to the 42-man list.

This is the third straight year Fordham has a player named to the preseason Hermann Trophy Watch List. Prior to the 2011 season, former Rams Tim Richardson and Ryan Meara, the current starting keeper for the New York Red Bulls, were placed on the list while Meara was also tabbed prior to the 2010 season.

The 2011 season was a coming out campaign for Bekoe, who recorded a pair of assists on the season and commanded the attack from his defensive midfield position. Despite recording just two points for the entire campaign, his leadership skills didn't go unnoticed in the league as he was named First Team All-Atlantic 10 at the conclusion of the season.

Bekoe is one of five returning starters to the 2012 men's soccer team, one of two that received post season accolades in 2011. Senior Ryan Curran was a SecondTeam All-Conference selection last fall, one of six Rams to earn All-Atlantic 10 honors.

Fordham's defense of its Atlantic 10 regular season title commences on Friday, August 24, when they travel to Piscataway, New Jersey, to face Rutgers at 8:00 PM. The home opener will take place on Sunday, August 26 at 1:00 PM against Adelphi on Jack Coffey Field.
