Fordham Men's Soccer Releases Revised 2012 Schedule

Revised 2012 Schedule

Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham men's soccer team, the 2011 Atlantic 10 regular season co-champions, released its updated, 2012 schedule on Monday, a schedule that will feature eight non-conference games and nine Atlantic 10 contests, including a home meeting with one of the newest Atlantic 10 members, Virginia Commonwealth, on October 19.

Highlights from the schedule include matchups with Rutgers, Brown and the 2011 national runner-ups, Charlotte. The Rams will face opponents from five different conferences including the Big East, Ivy League, America East, Metro Atlantic and Atlantic Soccer, and the team is scheduled to compete in the Brown Soccer Classic in early September.

Fordham will open its 2012 regular season in nearby Piscataway, New Jersey, as the Rams meet Big East power, Rutgers, on Friday, August 24th, at 8:00 PM.

Fordham commences the home portion of its schedule on Sunday, August 26th, when the Rams host local rival, Adelphi, at 1:00 PM on Jack Coffey Field. That game is the first of a pair of home contests that concludes with the Hartford Hawks visiting the Bronx on Friday, August 31st at 7:00 PM.

After that, Fordham will head to Providence, Rhode Island, to compete in the Brown Soccer Classic. The team will play Siena College on Friday, September 7 at 5:00 PM and then will face the host Bears on Sunday, September 9, at 2:30 PM. Before returning to the Bronx, Fordham has two more road tilts, the first at Stony Brook (against the Seawolves on Friday, September 14, at 7:00 PM) and the second in New Haven, Connecticut (versus Yale, on Friday, September 28, at 7:00 PM).

The Rams finish non-conference play in the annual "Battle of the Bronx" game against local rival, Manhattan, on September 28, at 7:30 PM, on Jack Coffey Field. Fordham begins a nine-game Atlantic 10 conference schedule on Friday, October 5 in Philadelphia against La Salle at 7:00 PM. From there, it's a pair of road games starting with one at the 2011 NCAA national finalists, Charlotte, on October 12 in North Carolina and then a contest against 2011 A-10 Co-Champions George Washington two days later.

The Rams return home for four games beginning with game against VCU on October 19 and then Richmond on Sunday, the 21st. The following week has Fordham closing out the home portion of its schedule with games against two Philadelphia schools, Temple (October 26) and St. Joseph's (October 28).

The Rams close out their 2012 regular season schedule with games at Duquesne (November 2) and St. Bonaventure (November 4) before beginning A-10 Championship play in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 8.
