Fordham University senior Jen Mineau (Schaghticoke, N.Y./Hoosic Valley Central) was named First Team Capital One Academic All-District for softball as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) it was announced today. She will now be placed on the national ballot for Capital One Academic All-American® consideration.

Mineau has been named First Team Academic All-District for the past three years, earning Third Team Academic All-America® honors last year. She became the second Fordham softball student-athlete to earn Academic All-America® accolades in the past three years (Mary Beth Puccio was named First Team Academic All-America® in 2009) and was the third Fordham softball player named Academic All-America®, joining Puccio and Erin Brooks (2004). Overall, Mineau was the 23rd Fordham student-athlete to be named an Academic All-American®.

A record-setting pitcher, Mineau is enjoying another outstanding season in 2012, compiling a 24-11 record to date with a 1.64 ERA. Last Friday, Mineau recorded her 100th career win, becoming the first Ram to reach that plateau, and will graduate with every major school record for pitching, which includes over 40 shutouts, 1,300 strikeouts, and a 1.41 ERA.

Last March, Mineau was drafted by the Akron Racers of the National Pro Fastpitch softball league and was an invitee to the U.S. National Team this past summer.

Last year, Mineau led the Rams to their first ever Atlantic 10 title by throwing three complete games shutouts at the 2011 Atlantic 10 Championship to earn Most Outstanding Player honors at the tournament. She was also named Third Team Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American.

Prior to the championship, Mineau was named First Team All-Atlantic 10 as well as the A-10 Student-Athlete of the Year for softball, marking the second straight season she received both of those honors. She was also named First Team Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Region.

The Rams enter their final weekend of the 2012 season with a 30-20 overall record, 14-2 in the Atlantic 10.
