Fordham University junior defensive tackle Justin Yancey (Dallas, Tex./Richardson Berkner) was named to the 2012 College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Defensive Tackle Award Watch List it was announced by the organization this week. He is one of 40 NCAA FCS defensive tackles named to the list, the only one from the Patriot League.
Yancey is the second Ram to be named to the 2012 CFPA Awards List, joining sophomore tight end Dan Light (Sutton, Mass./St. John's), who was named to the 2012 CFPA Tight End Award Watch List.
Yancey appeared in only game due to injury last fall, making four total tackles, two solo, in the season opener at Connecticut.
As a freshman in 2010, Yancey enjoyed a successful rookie season, recording 41 total tackles, 28 solo, including a team-high 10.5 for loss and three sacks. He finished the year tied for third in the Patriot League in tackles for loss/game (0.95).
The purpose of the College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
