The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its 2012 All-Conference Baseball Teams this afternoon, and it features a pair of Fordham players, as senior Ryan Maghini (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) was named Second Team All-Atlantic 10, while freshman Matthew Cianci (Far Hills, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) was selected to the league's All-Rookie Team.
Maghini had a career year, setting personal-bests in batting average (.318), hits (68), doubles (14), home runs (5), RBI (28), total bases (97), slugging percentage (.453), and stolen bases (9). He led Fordham in five offensive categories overall, but was better in conference play, hitting a team-best .357 with 13 runs scored, nine doubles, two home runs, and 10 RBI. For his efforts, Maghini was selected as the team's MVP.
Maghini finished his career with 196 games played (tied for 7th all-time at Fordham), collecting 177 hits, 37 doubles (13th all-time at Fordham), 10 home runs, 74 RBI, and 21 stolen bases.
Cianci had a productive first season at Fordham, playing in 50 games and splitting time between the outfield and third base. He batted .250 for the season with four doubles, a home run, and 14 RBI. He was second on the team in runs scored with 34, as well as in stolen bases with 10. In league play, he was a .256 hitter, tallying 16 runs scored, eight RBI, and three stolen bases.
