Fordham's Jenn Amoroso, Celine Egraz and Megan Sullivan Named 2012 CRCA National Scholar-Athletes

Fordham University graduate student Celine Egraz (Mâcon, France/Lycee Lamartine) and sophomores Jenn Amoroso (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) and Megan Sullivan (Orchard Park, N.Y./Nardin Academy) were named National Scholar-Athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) it was announced today. The award recognizes student-athletes with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher that competed in 75 percent of her team's 2012 spring races. Also, the student-athletes must be upperclassmen (sophomore, junior or senior) in terms of eligibility and their head coaches must be good standing members of the CRCA.

Egraz, a member of the varsity 8 and 2011-12 team captain, helped lead the shell to a second place finish in the petite final at the 2012 Atlantic 10 Championships on the Cooper River on May 5th. The graduate student who is pursuing a degree in communications, earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors following the regatta and was also named the team's MVP.

During the spring season, the varsity 8 also took second at the 2012 Kerr Cup on April 15th and placed seventh in the Women's Collegiate Varsity B SeaWorld Cal Cup on March 31st.

Amoroso and Sullivan are both members of the nationally ranked lightweight 8 at Fordham, a boat that is currently ranked 13th in the nation by the USRowing.com.

The pair also competed with the varsity lightweight 4 at the 2012 Dad Vail Championships, helping the shell to a third place finish on May 12th. The Rams secured the bronze medal with a time of 7:58.946, finishing behind Western Ontario (7:45.915) and Pittsburgh (7:52.327), and ahead of Clemson (7:59.412), Penn State (7:59.617), and Sacred Heart University (8:27.736).

Megan Sullivan


Amoroso and Sullivan also competed with the second varsity 8 at the 2012 Atlantic 10 Championships, placing second in the petite final.

Sullivan is an English major while Amoroso has not yet decided on a major.
