May 18, 2012

NFCA All Region Teams

Starkville, Miss. - Fordham seniors Jen Mineau (Schaghticoke, N.Y./Hoosic Valley Central) and Lindsey Kay Bright (Federal Way, Wash./Decatur) each received one final accolade for their collegiate careers as Mineau was named to the NFCA All-Mid-Atlantic First Team for the third straight season while Bright was named a Second Team honoree on Wednesday, her first career award from the NFCA.

Bright closed out her senior season leading the team in batting (.338), on base percentage (.377), stolen bases (nine) and sacrifices (six). She was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on March 12, largely on the heels of a 9-for-9 week at the plate. Additionally, Bright became just the fifth Fordham softball player to eclipse the 200-hit plateau when she picked up a base hit against Dayton on April 27. She was named First Team All Atlantic 10 at the conclusion of the season.

Over her career, Bright collected 206 hits, while swiping 66 career bases. She set the rookie mark with 29 steals in 2009. Bright finished her career with a .308 lifetime average and scored 119 runs.

Mineau entered her senior season already having a memorable career at Fordham, and she added to it in 2012 as she compiled a 25-15 record with a 1.62 ERA. She tossed three no-hitters (including a perfect game at Temple) and is ranked second in the nation in strikeouts. She leads the Atlantic 10 in ERA and is second in wins, strike outs, innings pitched and opponent's batting average. Mineau earned A-10 Pitcher of the Week honors three times in 2012.

A Pre-Season All-American and an All Atlantic 10 First Team honoree, Mineau, who was also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team and Capital One Academic All-District, was the recipient of the Hobbes Family Award as Fordham's top female athlete at the annual Block F dinner in May.

Mineau's final season saw her reach 100 career victories and 100 complete games in addition to surpassing 1,000 career strikeouts. She closes out her Fordham career with 101 victories, a lifetime ERA of 1.42 and 1,390 strikeouts. Mineau owns every Fordham pitching record except for saves and threw 974.1 innings in her four years at Fordham.

Mineau was drafted by the Akron Racers in the first round of the National Pro Fastpitch league in March and she will join the team following graduation.

The 2012 Fordham softball team finished the season with a 32-26 mark, winning 30 games for the tenth straight season. The team had five players earn All-Atlantic 10 honors and defeated its highest ranked opponent ever with an 8-5 victory over #3/4 Alabama in May.
