Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham women's basketball team donated its time to Kids Enjoy Exercise Now (KEEN) organization, on Saturday, May 5. KEEN is a non-profit organization that provides one-on-one recreational activities for children and young adults with mental and physical disabilities.

Members of the Fordham squad were paired up in groups of two student-athletes per child and engaged in recreational sports with the KEEN participants as well as working on various arts and crafts projects. The goal was to provide the youngsters with companionship and allow them to partake in physical fitness activities. This is consistent with KEEN's mission to foster the self-esteem, confidence, skills and talents of its athletes through non-competitive activities, allowing young people facing even the most significant challenges to meet their individual goals.

Following the event, the Rams were asked to serve as a sponsor for the local Bronx chapter of KEEN.

The service was part of head coach Stephanie Gaitley's initiative RAMS24: Rams Achieving More through Service, where the players give 24 hours - a day of their lives - in service to others. The purpose of RAMS24 is to instill in each student-athlete the importance of not taking life for granted by volunteering at various events in the local community. This is consistent with the Jesuit ideal of being men and women for others.

The Rams closed out the 2011-12 campaign with an overall record of 12-18, including a record nine non-conference wins, and Fordham advanced to its third straight Atlantic 10 Championship tournament.
