Football's Darryl Whiting Signs Free Agent Contract with Tennessee Titans

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University senior running back Darryl Whiting (E. Elmhurst, N.Y./Holy Cross) signed an NFL free agent contract with the Tennessee Titans it was announced by the team. He becomes the third Ram in the past two years to sign an NFL free agent contract, joining Isa Abdul-Quddus and Stephen Skelton, who signed with the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals, respectively, last year.

Whiting, a running back, led the Fordham ground game last year, gaining 668 yards on 171 carries, an average of 3.9 yards/carry and 60.7 yards/game, with one touchdown. He was fourth in the Patriot League in rushing yards per game.

Whiting, who also caught eight passes for 37 yards last fall, enjoyed his best game of 2011 against Lafayette on October 22, rushing 20 times for 128 yards and catching two passes for six yards. He also gained 100 rushing yards in the Liberty Cup win over Columbia on September 17th.

Over his four-year career, Whiting gained 2,131 yards on 476 rushes with 14 touchdowns. He ranks seventh on the Fordham career rushing yards list and fifth on the school's all-time rushing attempts list. He also recorded six 100-yard rushing games in his career, including a 251-yard performance against Georgetown in 2010, the third best single game total in Fordham football history.

With the addition of Whiting, Fordham currently has four former players on NFL rosters with Whiting, Abdul-Quddus and Skelton being joined by Skelton's brother, John, the former record-setting Rams quarterback who is entering his third year with the Arizona Cardinals.
