Playing without its top singles player proved to be too much for the Fordham University women's tennis team as the Rams ventured down to Philadelphia where they were shutout by Temple University, 7-0, on the Arthur Ashe Courts.
With the loss, Fordham falls to 14-5 on the year.
The match opened with the Owls taking the doubles match, winning two of the three doubles matches. Temple's Alicia Doms and Agnese Rozite opened play with an 8-2 win over Fordham's Angelika Dabu and Sarah Tremaine at second doubles and Rebecca Breland and Cristina Grimaldi followed with an 8-4 victory over Fordham's Sarah Ali and Bella Genkina at first doubles. Hanna Fritzinger and Julie Leong picked up a doubles win for the Rams at the third position over Carly Bohman and Maame Ama Osei, 8-6.
In singles play, Temple won all six matches in straight sets.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday, April 4th, when they host the Villanova Wildcats on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts at 2:30 p.m.
