Fordham Golf in Eighth Place After Two Rounds at Atlantic 10 Championship

Coral Springs, Fla. - Day two of the Atlantic 10 Championship has come and gone from the Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Florida and the Fordham golf team is in eight place, out of 11 teams, after posting a second round team score of 300. Together with the opening 295, the combined score of 595 puts the Rams seven shots behind seventh place La Salle and 27 strokes behind overall leader, George Washington.

Brody Nieporte paced Fordham for the second straight day with a one-over-par 73, and he is even overall after a 71 on Friday, which gives him a share of 12th place. His round on Saturday included birdies on the third, seventh, fourteenth and sixteenth holes. Nieporte has recorded one-under par scores on the third hole in both rounds, so far.

After Nieporte, Devon O'Rourke sits in 23rd place after scores of 73 and 74. He is currently three over par for the tournament. On Saturday, O'Rourke made birdies on 1, 13, 14 and 17.

Jason Del Rosso opened with a 73 and followed that with a 76 for a five-over-par score of 149, good for 31st place. His two birdies on Saturday came on the seventh and fifteenth holes.

The fourth Fordham golfer, Connor Monaghan, is all alone in 48th place after posting a second round score of 77, which was one stroke better than his opening round of 78. Monaghan made birdie putts on 6, 10 and 14 en route to his five over par 77.

The final Fordham competitor, Jeff Hogan, is all alone in 55th place after rounds of 80 and 81. He recorded a birdie on the ninth hole on Friday.

The final round of the 2012 A-10 Championship gets underway on Sunday, April 29. The Fordham team will try to improve upon 2011's seventh-place finish.
