Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham women's basketball Head Coach Stephanie Gaitley, who just completed her first season with Fordham in 2011-12, announced the dates of her 2012 basketball camp recently, which will be held at Fordham's picturesque Rose Hill campus in the Bronx. The camp will run in two sessions, a skills camps and a team camp, with the team camp going from June 22-24 and the skills camp taking place on Sunday, June 24. For the team camp, teams will stay in the Fordham residence halls, have access to the dining facility and will play three games a day. The skills portion of the camp on June 24 will focus on skill development for both perimeter and post players. The guards will work on offensive and defensive footwork, moving with and without the ball, ball handling skills and rebounding and passing. For the forwards and centers, emphasis will be placed on offensive and defensive footwork, low and high post moves, moving with and without the ball, offensive and defensive rebounding, ball handling and passing as well as learning how to face the basket.

Gaitley, a Villanova alumna and Hall of Fame inductee, led the Rams to the most non-conference wins in school history last winter. The success came on the strength of the Fordham defense which was nothing new for Gaitley, whose teams have been known for their trademark unyielding defense. The Rams surrendered just 54.4 points per game in 2011-12, second best in the Atlantic 10 Conference, percentage points behind nationally ranked St. Bonaventure, and 33rd best in the NCAA.
