Fordham Men's Soccer Releases 2012 Schedule

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham men's soccer team, the 2011 Atlantic 10 regular season co-champions, announced its 2012 schedule on Monday, a schedule that will feature eight non-conference games and nine Atlantic 10 contests. Highlights from the schedule include matchups with Rutgers, Brown, St. Louis and the 2011 national runner-ups, Charlotte. The Rams will face opponents from five different conferences including the Big East, Ivy League, America East, Metro Atlantic and Atlantic Soccer, and the team is scheduled to compete in the Brown Soccer Classic in early September.

Fordham will open its 2012 regular season in nearby Piscataway, New Jersey, as the Rams will meet Big East power, Rutgers, on Friday, August 24th.

Fordham commences the home portion of its schedule on Sunday, August 26th, when the team hosts local rival, Adelphi, at 1:00 PM on Jack Coffey Field. That game is the first of a pair of home contests that concludes with the Hartford Hawks visiting the Bronx on Friday, August 31st at 7:00 PM.

After that, Fordham will head to Providence, Rhode Island. to compete in the Brown Soccer Classic. The team will play Siena College on Friday, September 7 at 5:00 PM and then will face the host Bears on Sunday, September 9, at 2:30 PM. Before returning to the Bronx, Fordham has two more road tilts, the first at Stony Brook (against the Seawolves on Friday, September 14, at 7:00 PM) and the second in New Haven, Connecticut (versus Yale, on Friday, September 28, at 7:00 PM).

The Rams then finish non-conference play in the annual "Battle of the Bronx" game against local rival, Manhattan, on September 28, at 7:00 PM, on Jack Coffey Field.\

Fordham begins a nine-game Atlantic 10 conference schedule on Friday, October 5 at home with 2011 A-10 Co-Champions George Washington at 7:30. Two days later, they host Richmond at 2:30. They close out the home schedule with tilts against Temple and Saint Joseph's on October 26 and 28th, respectively.

The Rams will also face Charlotte (October 12), 2011 NCAA national finalists, Saint Louis (October 14), La Salle (October 19), Duquesne (November 2) and St. Bonaventure (November 4) on the road this season.

In a rare scheduling twist, all four conference home games will be doubleheaders with the Fordham women's soccer team. The Fordham women will host Charlotte (Oct. 5), Saint Louis (Oct. 7), Duquesne (Oct. 26), and St. Bonaventure (Oct. 28). Prior to the game with Rutgers, Fordham will participate in three exhibition matchups, playing at Bryant and home versus St. Peter's and at Marist.

The Rams will look to return to the Atlantic 10 Championship which will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina, beginning on November 8.
