Softball Hosts St. Bonaventure for Atlantic 10 Weekend Series

Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham softball team will put its flawless home record on the line as they host St. Bonaventure for an Atlantic 10 doubleheader on Friday, April 20 at 3:00 p.m. Please note that this is a change from the original schedule due to impending inclement weather over the weekend.

The Rams enter the contest on following a 6-1 setback to Hofstra on Tuesday. On the year, the Rams are 27-18 overall, 11-1 in the Atlantic 10, and have won four of their last five games.

Offensively, the Rams are led by a senior and a freshman. Lindsey Kay Bright enters the weekend leading the team in hitting (.386), on base percentage (.415) and stolen bases (seven). She is four hits shy of becoming the fifth Fordham softball player to reach 200 career hits.

Newcomer Paige Ortiz is having a positive effect in the Fordham lineup. She leads the team in home runs, RBI, total bases and slugging and was named A-10 Rookie of the Week on March 26.

In the circle, the Rams preseason All-American Jen Mineau is currently 21-10 on the year and ranked second in the NCAA with 302 strikeouts on the year. She was named Pitcher of the Week for the third time on April 9 while last week, she picked up three wins against Siena and Saint Louis, including a shutout against the Billikens on April 14. Taylor Pirone and Michele Daubman have also seen time on the rubber this year.

The Bonnies are 17-22 overall on the year, 4-5 in the Atlantic 10, and 4-4 on the road in 2012. Bethune Cookman and Mt. Saint Mary's makeup six of the team's 17 wins on the season.

Offensively, the team leans heavily on Brooke Frey and Ashley Snider. Frey leads St. Bonaventure in batting (.349), doubles (seven) and walks (15). She is second on the team in home runs and runs scored and has 10 RBI. Snider is hitting .344 and paces the Bonnies in homers (four), RBI (15), hits (32)and runs scored (18). Kelli Rohan is batting .257 but has 15 stolen bases in 16 attempts.

In the circle, Jen Sansano has seen the majority of time. She is 10-7 with a 3.10 ERA and leads the staff in complete games (15), shutouts (four), innings pitched (119.2) and strikeouts (74). Diana Phalon has also seen significant time on the rubber as well.

Following the weekend series with St. Bonaventure, the Fordham softball team hosts Iona on Tuesday, April 24 at 3:00 PM, and then plays an Atlantic 10 weekend series at Dayton starting on April 27.
