Fordham Golf in First Place After Opening Round of Rhody Invitational

Portsmouth, R.I. - The Fordham golf team continued its hot spring season with a first place standing after the opening round of the Rhody Invitational, on Saturday, April 14 from the Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Five Fordham golfers are in the top five amongst individual linksmen.

The Par 71 course had five Fordham golfers combine for a team score of 304, one stroke ahead of second-place Sacred Heart. There are seven different teams in competition.

There are nine different golfers competing for the Rams, five of whom have their scores count towards the team score. The team competitors were led by Jason Del Rosso's 75, which put him in a tie for fifth. Connor Monaghan and Jeff Hogan share sixth place, one stroke off of Del Rosso's score at 76. Devon O'Rourke sits in a share of twelfth place after shooting a 77. Finally, Brody Nieporte recorded an 84 to close out the team scoring.

Among the individual competitors, Pat Herlihy put up a career-best 73 and sits in second place. Brandon Nolan shot a 75 and shares fifth position with several other golfers. Justin Clark recorded a 78 and is in 18th place, in his first action of the spring. Ben Alcorn shot an 84 and is in a tie for 37th place.

The final round of play is scheduled for Sunday, April 15 beginning at 11:00 AM. Fordham will see if they can with their second event of the year.
