Loudonville, N.Y. -
The Fordham softball team has a perfect 3-0 record against opponents from the Empire State and they will look to make it 5-0 when they travel to Loudonville, New York, for a doubleheader with Siena on Wednesday, April 11, beginning at 2:00 PM.
The Rams enter the twinbill having taken three out of four games on a recent Atlantic 10 Conference jaunt through Philadelphia. Familiar faces led the team as Jen Mineau threw a perfect game, one of her three wins, while Nicole Callahan connected on a home run. Mineau and Callahan were named A-10 Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for their efforts.
Offensively, the Rams are led by a senior and a freshman. Lindsey Kay Bright, the senior, enters the day leading the team in hitting (.371), on base percentage (.404) and stolen bases (six) while newcomer Paige Ortiz is having a positive effect in the Fordham lineup. Ortiz leads the team in home runs, RBI, total bases and slugging and was named A-10 Rookie of the Week on March 26.
In the circle, the Rams preseason All-American Jen Mineau is currently 18-9 on the year and was named Pitcher of the Week for the third time on April 9. Last week, she picked up three wins against conference opponents, including a perfect game against Temple on April 7. Taylor Pirone and Daubman have also seen time on the rubber this year.
The Saints enter the series with a 1-1 home record this season, having split a pair of games with Sacred Heart last week. Shannon Jones is the offensive juggernaut of the team, leading Siena in batting (.400), runs (22), hits (32), doubles (nine), home runs (nine), RBI (27) total bases (72), slugging (.900) and on-base percentage (.442). Jessika - Jo Sandrini enters the doubleheader hitting .319 and is second on the team in home runs (four) and total bases (42).
In the circle, four different pitchers have seen work. Amanda Filippazzo leads the staff with 16 appearances and is 4-8 with a 3.24 ERA and has eight complete games to her credit with 80 innings pitched and 45 strikeouts.
Following the doubleheader, the Rams return home as they face Atlantic 10 conference foe, Saint Louis for a weekend series beginning on Friday, April 13, at 3:00 PM.
