Fordham senior runner Kevin Fitzgerald (New Orleans, La./Jesuit) was named Atlantic 10 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Performer of the Week, it was announced on Monday. It is his first outdoor track weekly award, and second weekly award overall. He was a cross country weekly award winner last year.
Fitzgerald opened the outdoor season for the Rams with a first-place finish in the 3,000 meters at the George Mason Spring Opener with a time of 8:40.32.
Fitzgerald followed up that performance with an IC4A Qualifying time of 3:48.87 in the 1,500 meters at the UVA Team Swashbuckle, earning fifth-place finish.
Both of these times were the best of Fitzgerald's career.
Fitzgerald and the rest of the Fordham track & field team will next be in action on Friday, March 30th, when the Rams travel to Raleigh , North Carolina, for the Raleigh Relay, hosted by N.C.State.
