The Fordham University rowing squad competed at the 2012 Murphy Cup on Saturday on the Cooper River with the Rams posting four entries on the women's side but none of the boats was able to advance to the finals.
The top boat was the varsity 8 which placed fourth in its heat in a time of 8:29.28. Bucknell won the race in 7:57.00 followed by Rutgers 98:03.23), La Salle (8:22.30) and the Rams, who beat Loyola (8:40.58) and Sacred Heart (9:01.00) across the line.
The Fordham second varsity 8 also placed fourth in its heat in 8:21.65, behind Buffalo (7:53.10), Saint Joseph's (8:04.21), Drexel (8:06.36) but in front of George Mason (8:31.03) and George Washington (8:41.85).
In the Novice 8 heat, Fordham placed fifth in 10:05.51, behind Bucknell (8:20.34), Delaware (8:41.07), Temple (8:45.76), and Robert Morris (9:16.56) while the Rams' varsity 4 entry also took fifth in its heat in 10:58.12, behind Drexel (9:49.00), Pittsburgh (9:53.55) Navy (10:26.66) and Rutgers (10:34.20).
The Rams will return to action on Saturday, Match 31st as part of the crew competes at the San Diego Crew Classic and part compete at the Sacred Heart Invitational in Shelton, Connecticut.
