Results

Buffalo, N.Y. - The 2012 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship completed day two on Thursday, and saw Fordham have another strong overall performance with two women's swimmers earning All-Atlantic 10 honors. Overall, the Fordham women sit in second place with 217 points, behind only Richmond's total of 272.

Behind those two teams are La Salle (185), Massachusetts (177), St. Bonaventure (105), Rhode Island (103), Duquesne (93), George Washington (86), Xavier (86), and Saint Louis (68).

The night began with the 500 freestyle, as Fordham had one competitor in both finals. In the consolation final, Alexandra Wessel took third (11th overall) in her best time of the season in 5:01.85. Kara Field then stepped to the block in the "A" final, and edged out a fourth place finish in a season-best time of 4:55.46.

Next up was the 200 individual medley event, where the Rams had four swimmers makes the finals, including three in the consolation final. In the "A" final, Courtney Collyer earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors, by placing second in a school record time of 2:02.59, breaking her old mark of 2:03.06, set at last year's Atlantic 10 Championship. Savannah Coe was the top finisher in the "B" final taking third (11th overall) in 2:07.16, followed by Aurelia O'Keefe in fifth (13th overall) in 2:08.19 and Shannon Jones in seventh (15th overall) in 2:10.21.

Then in the 50 freestyle, Fordham earned it second event win of the Championship, as Brienne Ryan won the "A" final in a school record time of 23.18 seconds, edging Richmond's Charlotte Brackett by .02 seconds. She broke her own school record of 23.26 seconds set earlier in the day, and is Fordham's first women's winner in the 50 freestyle. Fordham also scored in the "B" final, as Kellie Lyver was second (10th overall) in 23.72 seconds.

The attention then shifted to the women's one-meter dive, as Andrea Krok and Elizabeth Dorger both made the finals, while Brittany Salas scored in ninth (202.75). Dorger would be Fordham's top finisher in fourth place, scoring 231.90 in the final, while Krok was right behind her in fifth with a score of 229.80.

The final women's event was the 200 freestyle relay, where the team of Lyver, Alana Biagioli, Ariana Peschke, and Kelly Bunster, finished fifth in a season-best time of 1:35.31.

Day three of the Championship continues on Friday with preliminary races at 10:30 AM with the finals at 6:30 PM.
