2012 Patriot League Football Academic Honor Roll
Patriot League football teams combined to place 191 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll for strong performances in the classroom during the fall semester.
The total of 191 honorees is just eight off the record of Football Academic Honor Roll selections from last season.
Fordham led all schools with 39 honorees, matching last year's total when the Rams also led the conference, the highest number for any Patriot League team in the fall. Georgetown followed with 32 selections, while Lafayette, Holy Cross and Bucknell each had 28 and Lehigh recorded 24.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports.
The group featured 13 members of the Football Academic All-Patriot League Team, including Bucknell senior Tim Bolte who was named the Patriot League Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year. An East Asian Studies & Political Science major, Bolte recorded a 3.83 grade-point average in the fall semester. In addition to his honors from the Patriot League, Bolte was also named a Capital One First-Team Academic All-American in the fall.
Lafayette senior Brandon Ellis was one of three who recorded a 4.00 GPA in the fall semester. The Economics & Business major was named a Capital One Academic All-District selection and earned a spot on the FCS Athletic Directors Association Academic All-Star Team in addition the Academic All-Patriot League Team in the fall. Ellis was one of two Leopards to earn a 4.00 GPA, as he was joined by freshman English major Anthony Baker. Fordham senior Craig Staub, a Business Administration major, also tallied a 4.00 GPA.
The Academic Honor Roll included 26 players who made the All-Patriot League Team. Lehigh senior quarterback Chris Lum, the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, recorded a 3.92 GPA while majoring in Supply Chain Management and Georgetown senior defensive end Andrew Schaetzke, the League's Defensive Player of the Year, notched a 3.20 GPA as a Finance major. Lum and Schaetkze were two of the Patriot League's five All-Americans that earned a spot on the Academic Honor Roll. Bucknell senior defensive back Bryce Robertson recorded a 3.29 as a Management major, Fordham junior punter Patrick Murray notched a 3.80 GPA while majoring in Business Administration and Lehigh senior offensive lineman Jim Liebler carried a 3.25 GPA as a Political Science major.
