Fordham Men's & Women's Cross Country Earn All-Academic Accolades from the USTFCCCA

New Orleans, La. - The Fordham men's & women's cross country teams were both honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) today, as both squads were named to the Division I All-Academic Cross Country Teams for the 2011 season. A total of 352 teams, men and women combined, earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better.

Overall, Fordham was one of 140 schools to have both its men's and women's team earn All-Academic honors. Five other Atlantic 10 schools also earned that distinction.

It is also the second straight season that both cross country at Fordham have been honored.

The Fordham men's cross country team was one of six Atlantic 10 schools to earn All-Academic Team honors at 3.37, along with Richmond, Charlotte, Dayton, La Salle, and Temple. Of the Atlantic 10 squads, Fordham ranked first in GPA, with Dayton in second at 3.29.

The Fordham women's cross country team was one of seven Atlantic 10 schools to earn All-Academic status, by posting a 3.40 team GPA. Joining Fordham were Charlotte, Dayton, La Salle, Richmond, Saint Joseph's and Temple from the Atlantic 10. The Rams ranked third among that group in GPA, behind Dayton (3.59) and Temple (3.41).
