BRONX, N.Y. -
The Rams will look to get back to their winning ways on Saturday when they open up a five game home stand with a matchup against the Stony Brook Seawolves.
Series History: Saturday's game will be the ninth all-time meeting between the two programs, with Fordham holding a 6-2 advantage over their neighbors from the America East Conference. The two teams met for the first time in the Spring of 1971, and the last meeting between the Rams and Seawolves came a season ago. In that game, Coach Stephanie Gaitley's squad put up an outstanding defensive effort, holding Stony Brook to fewer than 40 points en route to a 41-37 victory.
Scouting Stony Brook: The two teams featured in Saturday's game play a similar type of basketball, with each squad featuring a stifling defense. The Rams entered the week ranked eighth in the nation in scoring defense and are allowing just 50.5 points per game. The Seawolves have held their opponents to just 53.1 points per contest. Stony Brook features only one scorer who averages double figures, as Sabre Proctor has netted an even ten points per game through the team's first seven contests. Senior forward Jessica Previlon averages just under a double-double, with 9.9 points and 9.6 boards per outing. Chikilra Goodman had a career outing in Stony Brook's victory over Sacred Heart on Tuesday night, scoring 19 points and pulling down 16 rebounds.
