The Fordham University men's basketball Rams continue their 2012-13 season, the 110th season of varsity basketball at Rose Hill, by hosting the Monmouth University Hawks in the Rose Hill Gym today at 4:00 PM. The game will be video streamed live on FordhamSports.com with Alex Smith (pbp) and Mike Valdetara (color) as the announcers.

Fordham enters the game with a 3-10 record after a 73-48 loss to Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Saturday night. Monmouth enters the game with a 5-7 record and is coming off an 83-56 home loss to Villanova on December 22.
Monday afternoon's contest will be the fourth meeting between Fordham and Monmouth on the hardwood with the Rams leading the all-time series, which started in 1985, 2-1. Monmouth took last year's meeting, 80-65, on December 10 in the Multipurpose Activity Center Jesse Steele scored 18 points for the Hawks and Ed Waite added 14 while Chris Gaston led the Rams with 21 points and ten rebounds. Fordham won the first two matchups, 63-54, in the Rose Hill Gym on November 30, 1985, and 81-68 on November 28, 1986 in the Coast Cities Classic. Fordham is 59-27 all-time against schools currently in the Northeast Conference, including a loss to Robert Morris earlier this year.
On the court, Fordham is led by junior guard Branden Frazier, who is averaging a team-high 16.8 ppg after netting a career-high 26 points at UConn and then scoring 20 points and adding ten assists for his first collegiate double-double in the Siena win and netting 17 at Georgia Tech. He is averaging 20.0 ppg and 6.3 apg over past four games and leads the team in assists with 66, third best in the A-10 (5.1/game). Senior forward Chris Gaston, who missed six games with an injury, is averaging 14.6 ppg and 7.6 rpg after a 25-point, eight-rebound effort against Siena and 16 points and eight boards at Georgia Tech. He is averaging 17.0 ppg and 6.3 rpg since returning to action after the injury. Freshman guard Mandell Thomas is averaging 7.7 ppg over the past three games and 3.9 ppg on the year.
