Newport News, Va. -
Fordham University freshman Emma Cleary (Smithtown, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) was named the Atlantic 10's Women's Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week today by the league office. It is Cleary's first career weekly honor, and the first women's rookie honor for the Rams since Anisa Arsenault in the 2010-11 season.
In her first competition as a Ram, Cleary finished second in the pole vault competition at the Manhattan College Opener. Cleary tied the school record in the pole vault by clearing 10' 4". The original mark was set by Maggie McGowan in 2009.
Cleary and the rest of the Fordham track & field team will next be in action on Friday, December 7th, when the Rams host the Fordham Season Opener at the Lombardi Center Fieldhouse. Field events begin at 2:00 PM, while running events are scheduled for a 5:00 PM start.
