Track & Field Holds Toy Drive for Toys for Tots

Dec. 17, 2012

Bronx, N.Y. - As the holiday season nears, the Fordham cross country/track & field team has continued its community outreach effort for this year. After assisting with the Hurricane Sandy clean-up at Van Cortlandt Park, the team held a toy drive for the holidays to assist Toys for Tots.

For the past few weeks, the Rams have been collecting toy donations for the Toys for Tots foundation. Toys for Tots, which is run by the US Marine Corps Reserve, will see all donations that were collected this year will be distributed to children in the Bronx. The Rams were able to collect over 90 toys in the drive.

"The team has participated in a toy drive for the past few years and this year, I helped to choose the Toys for Tots foundation after learning that all donations would be distributed to children right here in the Bronx," said junior Shannon McKenna.

"As a member of the track team and the Fordham community, it is important that we work to assist in the greater efforts for the Bronx. We are very excited to have collected over 90 toys this year and hope to continue our efforts by conducting future toy drives during the holidays."
