After securing their best start to a season in 16 years Wednesday night against rival Manhattan, Fordham travels to the Midwest to take on Big East opponent Marquette.
The meeting will be the first ever between the two programs, each of whom sit with a record above the .500 mark entering December. This game will be one of a possible two meetings this season between the Rams and a team from the Big East Conference, as Providence will play in The Fordham Holiday Classic. A matchup between the Rams and the Friars, however, is not guaranteed.
The Rams look to move to 6-1 for the first time since 1993-1994, the last time Fordham made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Tonight's game is one of six Jesuit Basketball Spotlight games for the Rams this season. Fordham already bested The University of San Francisco on November 21st, and after tonight's contest will play Holy Cross, Xavier, Saint Louis, and Saint Joseph's over the remainder of the schedule.
SERIES HISTORY: Tonight marks the first ever meeting between Fordham and Marquette.
SCOUTING MARQUETTE: The Golden Eagles enter tonight's contest with a 3-2 record coming off a squeaker of a win over South Dakota State in overtime on November 28th. Sophomore Arlesia Morse led the way for Marquette in the win, netting a season-high 23 points on 4-8 shooting from beyond the arc. Freshman Brooklyn Pumroy chipped in 17 points. On the season, Morse tops the score sheet for the Golden Eagles with an average output of 14 points and four assists per contest. She leads an offense that has put up no fewer than 64 points in any of their five games this season, which should make for an interesting matchup against a Rams squad that has allowed only 48 points per contest heading into tonight.
