Bronx, N.Y. - A courageous boy named Ty Campbell serves as an inspiration to the Fordham Rams' Uplifting Athletes Chapter.

This Saturday when Fordham plays Lafayette at Jack Coffey Field in the Bronx - in honor of Ty and the rare disease extrarenal rhabdoid tumors he fought - The Rams' Uplifting Athletes Chapter has initiated a gate take to raise money.

All proceeds will go directly towards extrarenal rhabdoid tumor research.

Ty fought extrarenal rhabdoid tumors, a form of pediatric cancer, for more than two years. Sadly, Ty lost his battle with the rare disease last month.

"Everything we've done has always been for Ty Campbell," said Fordham Chapter President and Rams defensive end Andrew Milmore. "At five years old he faced more adversity than most face in their entire lives. Kids like Ty deserve every opportunity to be happy and healthy, and hopefully Fordham football raising money for pediatric brain cancer can help another child down the road."

Players will also be wearing various gold gear, such as shoe laces and wristbands, to help raise awareness since gold is the ribbon color for pediatric cancers.

Game time is 1 p.m. Saturday. Please help the Rams' Uplifting Athletes Chapter raise money for finding treatment options and a cure for extrarenal rhabdoid tumors as well as honoring Ty by either donating at the game or online today.

About Ty Campbell

In the summer of 2011, the Fordham University football squad added a new teammate, one who was only four years old and who was battling something bigger than anything the Rams would face on the field.

Ty Louis Campbell was born on October 4, 2007, the first child for Cindy and Lou. But on August 11, 2010, their lives changed forever. A mass was found at the base of his skull and Ty was later diagnosed with an extra renal rhabdoid tumor; a very rare and aggressive cancer. He underwent treatment for the cancer for two years before losing his battle with the disease on October 17.

Ty and his family's story is truly inspirational and consistently inspires the Fordham Football family. The Fordham University football Rams continue their 2012 Patriot League season by hosting the Lafayette College Leopards on Jack Coffey Field on Saturday, November 10, at 1:00 p.m.

The game will be broadcast live on the internet at wfuv.org with Alex Smith and Mike Watts handling the announcing chores and Kenny Ducey on the sidelines. The game can also been seen online by clicking here or by viewing it at ESPN3.

The Rams enter the Lafayette game with a 5-4 record after falling at Bucknell last week, 27-24., while Lafayette enters the contest with an identical 5-4 mark after a 65-41 Patriot League loss at Colgate last week.

This will be the 31st meeting between Fordham and Lafayette on the gridiron with the Leopards leading the all-time series, which started in 1903, 21-8-1. Lafayette won last year's meeting, 45-24, on Fisher Field as Andrew Shoop completed 16 of 24 passes for 259 yards and one score and Pat Mputu rushed 17 times for 116 yards and one touchdown as the two teams combined for 1,088 total yards of offense. Fordham took the 2010 meeting, 14-10, on Jack Coffey Field as Ryan Higgins completed 19 of 35 passes for 185 yards, Darryl Whiting rushed for 108 yards and one score and Patrick Murray connected on a pair of field goals.
