Fordham University freshman midfielder Kyle Bitterman (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) was named to the 2012 Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer All-Rookie Team in a voting among the league's coaches it was announced today. He is the second Ram freshman to be honored by the A-10, joining Tim-Jack Murphy, who was named to the All-Rookie team last fall.
Bitterman started all 14 of the 17 games for the Rams in 2012, finishing his rookie campaign with two goals and two assists for six points, tying sophomore Kalle Sotka for the team scoring lead. Both of Bitterman's goals were game-winners, the first coming in overtime in Fordham's 1-0 win over Manhattan in the annual Battle of the Bronx on September 28 and the second in the 89th minute in the Rams' 2-1 Atlantic 10 win over George Washington on October 14. He was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week following the Manhattan game.
One of Bitterman's assists also led to a game-winning goal, that coming at #22 Brown University at the Brown Classic on September 9.
The Fordham men's soccer team closed out the 2012 season with a 6-7-4 overall record, 2-4-3 in the Atlantic 10.
