Fordham freshman Steve Sholdra (Renton, Wash./H.B. Education) was selected as the Atlantic 10's Men's Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, it was announced by the league today.
Sholdra had another superb weekend for the Rams at the Bucknell Invitational. The weekend began with Sholdra winning the 500-yard freestyle event in a school record time of 4:29.82, breaking the 1992 record of 4:31.35 by Paul Smith.
Sholdra also placed second in two other events, posting season-best times in the 400 IM (3:59.81) and 200 butterfly (1:50.67) events. In his final individual event, he won the "B" final of the 200 breaststroke in the Rams' top time of the season as well at 2:06.43.
Sholdra and the rest of the Fordham swimming & diving team will next be in action on Saturday, December 1st, when the Rams host a tri-meet with Boston College and Williams College, beginning at 1:00 PM.
