The Fordham University men's soccer squad closes out its 2012 Atlantic 10 schedule this weekend by traveling to Pittsburgh for a matchup on Friday night with the Duquesne University Dukes at 7:00 PM and then venturing up to St. Bonaventure, N.Y., to take on the St. Bonaventure University Bonnies on Sunday at 1:00 PM. The Rams are still in the running for a berth in the 2012 Atlantic 10 Championship tournament which will be held from November 8-11 in Charlotte.
The Rams are currently 5-6-4 on the season, 1-3-3 in the Atlantic 10, after a 0-0 overtime tie with Saint Joseph's University on Jack Coffey Field last Sunday.
Offensively, Fordham is led by Kalle Sotka who has two goals and two assists on the year for six points and Kyle Bitterman, who also has a pair of goals and two helpers on the year for six points. Both of Bitterman's goals have been game-winners. Tommy Granot and Michael Valencia have also contributed to the offense with three points each.
The team's biggest strength for the second straight year is the defense. Goalie Sean Brailey has a 5-6-3 mark and a 0.90 GAA with five shutouts to his credit, while Ricky Berotti made his first collegiate start against Saint Joseph's, making two saves in recording the clean sheet.
Duquesne enters the game with a 6-10-1 overall record, 3-3-1 in the A-10. The Dukes are coming off a 1-0 A-10 overtime win at Massachusetts last Sunday. Duquesne is led offensively by Joshua Patterson, who has eleven goals and one assist for 23 points, and Simon Gomez, who has found the back of the net once and has five helpers for seven points. In goal, Sam Frymier has a 5-8-1 record with three shutouts and a 1.16 GAA.
Following the matchup with Duquesne, the Rams remain on the road to close out the regular season at St. Bonaventure on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Bonnies enter the weekend with a 5-12-0 overall record, 3-4-0 in the Atlantic 10 (St. Bonaventure hosts La Salle on Friday night).
