The Fordham University football Rams continue their 2012 Patriot League season by hosting the Georgetown University Hoyas on Jack Coffey Field on Saturday, October 6th, at 1:00 p.m. on Armed Forces Appreciation Day.

As part of Armed Forces Appreciation Day, all active and former military personnel, with military ID, will be admitted to the game for free. Also, Sgt. Joseph Manuel Bernardo will serve as Fordham's Honorary Captain. A Queens native, Bernardo has served in the Army for the past four years, including two years in Germany, and a one-year tour of Afghanistan as a Human Intelligence Collector which he returned from this past March.

The game will be broadcast live on the internet at Watch | wfuv.org with Alex Smith and Mack Rosenberg handling the announcing chores and Kenny Ducey on the sidelines. The game can also been seen online by clicking here.

The Rams enter the Georgetown game with a 3-2 record after falling to 11th-ranked Lehigh, 34-31, in Bethlehem last Saturday.

Georgetown enters the contest with a 3-2 record after falling to Brown University, 37-10, at home last week.

This will be the 54th meeting between Fordham and Georgetown on the gridiron with the Rams leading the all-time series, which started in 1889, 30-20-3. Georgetown won last year's meeting, 30-13, in Washington, D.C., as Scott Darby completed 18 of 30 passes for 199 yards and one score and Brett Weiss connected on three field goals. Prior to last year's loss, the Rams had won five straight, including a 24-19 win on Jack Coffey Field in 2010 as Darryl Whiting rushed for a career-high 251 yards and two touchdowns and Ryan Higgins completed 13 of 24 passes for 136 yards and one score.

The 54 varsity meetings with the Hoyas are the most against any opponent for the Rams.

Rams Raising Funds for Uplifting Athletes at Georgetown Game

The Fordham-Georgetown game will also serve as a fundraiser for the Fordham football team's Uplifting Athletes chapter. The Fordham softball team will lend the football squad a hand and be at the gate to accept donations and sell Uplifting Athlete wristbands at the game.

Last spring, the Rams decided to join with Uplifting Athletes to raise money and awareness for rare diseases. The genesis of this project came from seniors Daniel and James Avedesian, along with Andrew Milmore, who decided to form a Fordham chapter of the organization. Once formed, it was easy for the Rams to decide on a cause as they opted to benefit one of their own, Ty Campbell, a young boy suffering from an extra renal rhabdoid tumor who was "adopted" by the team in 2011.
