Fordham senior Brienne Ryan (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall) and freshman Anna Marshall (Skillman, N.J./Montgomery) swept this week's Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming & Diving awards, as announced by the league on Tuesday. Ryan earned Performer of the Week honors for the second straight week, while Marshall was named Rookie of the Week for the first time.
Ryan garnered her ninth career A-10 Performer of the Week honor after helping the Fordham women's team to victories over Marist and Fairfield this past week. She won four individual races and three relays over the two meets. Against Marist, she won the 100-yd (51.70) and 200-yd (1:53.57) freestyle events, as well as being a part of the winning 400 medley relay. The next night, Ryan won the 50-meter freestyle (27.34) and 100-meter butterfly (1:05.34) at Fairfield, and was a part of the winning 200-meter medley and freestyle relays.
Marshall captured her first career honor by posting individual wins in both Fordham victories this week. She took first place in the 200-yd breaststroke with a time of 2:25.73 against Marist and came back Friday to take first place in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:15.96) at Fairfield as well as being a part winning 200-meter medley relay.
Ryan, Marshall, and the rest of the Fordham swimming & diving team will next be in action on Saturday, November 3rd, when the Rams host Boston University for a 1:00 PM swim meet at the Messmore Aquatic Center.
