The Fordham University men's soccer squad continues its 2012 Atlantic 10 schedule on Friday night as they host the Temple University Owls on Jack Coffey Field at 7:00 PM as the Rams look to pick up valuable points in their quest for a berth in the 2012 Atlantic 10 Championship tournament.
The Rams are currently 5-5-2 on the season, 1-2-2 in the Atlantic 10, and ranked ninth in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Mid-Atlantic Men's Soccer Poll after a 3-2 loss to Richmond last Sunday.
Offensively, Fordham is led by Kalle Sotka who has two goals and two assists on the year for six points and Kyle Bitterman, who also has a pair of goals and two helpers on the year for six points. Both of Bitterman's goals have been game-winners. Tommy Granot and Michael Valencia have also contributed to the offense with three points each.
The team's biggest strength for the second straight year is the defense. Goalie Sean Brailey has a 5-5-3 mark and a 0.79 GAA with five shutouts to his credit, while the back line of Ryan Curran, Michael Stalker, Casper Gimand and Ryan Cupolo have allowed ten goals in 12 the games this season.
Temple enters the game with a 7-5-3 overall record, 3-1-2 in the A-10, and is ranked seventh in the latest regional rankings. The Owls are coming off a 3-1 A-10 loss at home to #23 Saint Louis last Sunday. Temple is led offensively by Jared Martinelli, who has seven goals and nine assists for 23 points, and Cody Calafiore, who has found the back of the net four times and has four helpers for 12 points. In goal, Bobby Rosato has a 5-4-2 record with three shutouts and a 1.49 GAA.
Following the matchup with Temple, the Rams remain home to host the Saint Joseph's University Hawks in an Atlantic 10 matchup on Jack Coffey Field on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
