Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham University football Rams continue their 2012 Patriot League season by traveling to Worcester, Mass., to face the College of the Holy Cross Crusaders on Fitton Field on Saturday, October 27, at 1:00 p.m. in the annual Ram-Crusader Cup game.

First dedicated in 1951 to the memory of Major Frank W. Cavanaugh, who was an outstanding figure in the football coaching annals of both Fordham and Holy Cross, the Ram-Crusader Cup is jointly sponsored by the Holy Cross College Clubs of New York and Long Island. The series between Fordham and Holy Cross was interrupted after the 1954 season when Fordham dropped football, but was resumed in 1990 when the Rams joined the Crusaders as members of the Patriot League.

Holy Cross has won the past four matchups for the Ram-Crusader Cup and lead the all-time series for the cup, 15-11.

If the Rams win, it would be their second win in a cup game this year as Fordham knocked off Columbia earlier this season to retain possession of the Liberty Cup.

The game will be broadcast live on the internet at wfuv.org with Alex Smith and Mike Watts handling the announcing chores and Chris Marasco on the sidelines. The game can also been seen online by clicking here (Fee required).

The Rams enter the Holy Cross game with a 4-3 record after falling at then 21st-ranked Cincinnati from the BIG EAST, 49-17, on October 13.

Holy Cross enters the contest with a 1-6 record after a 30-13 Patriot League loss at Lafayette last week.

This will be the 50th meeting between Fordham and Holy Cross on the gridiron with the Crusaders leading the all-time series, which started in 1902, 27-20-2. Holy Cross has taken the past four meetings, including a 41-21 win on Jack Coffey Field last November when Eddie Houghton rushed for 135 yards and two scores and Ryan Taggart completed 24 of 37 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns. The last Fordham win in the series came in 2007 when the Rams upended the Crusaders, 24-21, on Jack Coffey Field to clinch the 2007 Patriot League title.

The 50 varsity meetings with the Crusaders are the second most against any opponent for the Rams.
