Bronx, N.Y. -
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and for both the Fordham women's swimming & diving team and volleyball team, October is their chance to make a difference with annual team traditions.
This past Sunday, the women's swimming & diving team took part in the 2012 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, held in Central Park. This is the sixth consecutive year that Fordham swimming & diving has taken part in the walk, which raises money for the American Cancer Society.
The team reached over 70% of their goal for donations prior to walk, and have now gone over its goal on their Makings Strides Team Page.
This coming Saturday, the Fordham volleyball team will host its annual Dig Pink match against the Saint Louis Billikens at 7:00 PM in the Rose Hill Gym. All fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer and the team will be collecting donations and taking pledges throughout the match for the Side-Out Foundation.
The Side-Out Foundation was founded to unite volleyball players and coaches in order to work toward raising breast cancer awareness, education and patient services. Money given to The Side-Out Foundation is contributed to organizations that serve breast cancer patients in the form of research, medical services and compassionate support.
