Fordham's Randi Ewing Named Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Newport News, Va. - Fordham University senior middle blocker Randi Ewing (Demarest, N.J./Dwight-Englewood) was named Atlantic 10 Volleyball Co-Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced today by the league. She shares the honors with Dayton's Isolde Hannan, and it is the second weekly award of Ewing's career, having won the same accolade back in 2010.

Ewing became the fourth Fordham player to record 300 career blocks last weekend, joining Christi Griffiths (419), Marija Markovic (351), and Katie Wells (323).

Ewing posting 13 total blocks in two matches for a 1.30 per set average, as Fordham split its two matches this weekend. She recorded seven blocks, including one solo, in a loss to Temple on Friday, and then followed with six blocks and four digs against La Salle on Saturday in a 3-2 win for the Rams.

In addition to her defensive prowess, Ewing also had a season-high 15 kills against La Salle, while hitting .423.

Ewing and the rest of the Fordham volleyball team (13-15, 5-4 Atlantic 10) will next be in action on Friday, October 26th, when the Rams host the Butler Bulldogs for a 7:00 PM match in the Rose Hill Gym.
