Fordham Golf Takes Third at the Lehigh Invitational

Bethlehem, Pa. - The Fordham University golf team wrapped up play at the 2012 Lehigh Invitational, held on the Grace Course at the Saucon Valley Country Club on Sunday. The Rams finished in third place in the team standings, behind only Villanova and Rutgers.

In the team competition, Villanova won comfortably with a score of 580, followed by Rutgers at 596 and Fordham at 600. The rest of the field included Lehigh (603), Bucknell (617), Lafayette (622), Siena (627) and Colgate (633).

Individually, Villanova's Michael Kania held on for a one-stroke victory over teammate Steve Skurla, as Kania shot 143 (68-75) with Skurla at 144 (70-74). After an opening round of 71, Fordham's Jason Del Rosso shot a 77 on day two to finish with a score of 148, which tied for seventh overall. Brandon Nolan also finished in the top ten for the Rams, carding a two-day total of 149 (73-76), good for a tie for ninth.

Other Rams competing included Brody Nieporte (T16th - 71-80-151), Connor Monaghan (T23rd - 80-76-156), and Jeff Hogan (T-26th - 82-76-158).

The Rams will close out their fall schedule on October 29th at the FDU Invitational, held at Montammy Golf Course in Alpine, N.J.
