Golf in Second Place after Day One at Lehigh Invitational

The Fordham University golf squad opened play today at the 2012 Lehigh Invitational being held on the Grace Course at the Saucon Valley Country Club. The Rams are in second place in the team standings after day one, eleven points behind Villanova, while Jason Del Rosso and Brody Nieporte are tied for third in the individual competition.

In the team competition, Villanova leads with a score of 284 with the Rams eleven strokes back at 295. Rutgers is third at 300 followed by Lehigh (302), Bucknell (308), Lafayette (310), Siena (310) and Colgate (315).

Individually, Villanova's Michael Kania is in the lead with a first round score of 68, four under par, while teammate Steve Skurla is two strokes back in second place. Del Rosso, Nieporte, Colgate's Will Delano and Rutgers' Jonathan Chang each carded a one-under 71 today to tie for third place.

Other Rams competing include Brandon Nolan, who shot a 73 to sit in tenth place, Connor Monaghan, who turned in an 80 to tie for 31st, and Jeff Hogan, who finished with an 82 to tie for 40th.

The Rams will close out play at the 2012 Lehigh Invitational on Sunday.
